THE CAT'S MEOW

Purported to be based on true events, The Cat's Meow is set in 1924. A group of celebrities, including Charlie Chaplin (Eddie Izzard) and the actress Marion Davies (Kirsten Dunst), board the yacht of the media mogul William Randolph Hearst for a birthday party for the silent movie producer Thomas Ince.

The first evening is filled with dancing, fun and frolics. But everyone seems to have their own personal agenda and as the weekend progresses, rumours start to fly and relationships become more illicit.

By the second night, rivalries have intensified and paranoia sets in. The events of the previous two days culminate in a single gunshot and the ultimate death and cover-up of one of the guests.

Veteran director Peter Bogdanovich has gathered an outstanding ensemble of actors to explore the motives behind this famous tale of jealousy and revenge.
