Supernatural forces are unleashed when Liffey, (Kelly Riley) a young architect, buys a derelict cottage in the countryside with the intention of creating her dream home.

When she unintentionally becomes pregnant, her neighbour believes her own husband to be the father and sets about claiming the foetus as her own. It soon becomes apparent that Liffey will have to fight with everything she has to save her life and that of her unborn child.

With supporting actors including Miranda Richardson, Rita Tushingham and Donald Sutherland, Puffball, based on the novel by Fay Weldon, is truly atmospheric and marks acclaimed director Nicolas Roeg's long awaited return to the silver screen.
